Atalanta is the princess of Tegea, a small town in Arcadia. Wild, proud, and passionate, she was raised by her father Iasus as a boy – she is unbeatable in running and hunting and able to stand up to anyone. For this reason, she became the protégée of the goddess Artemis, the eternal child who hates men. Together with some other girls, Atalanta lives in the woods of Mount Parthenion, hunting, playing games, and performing rituals, heedless of a prophecy that predicts her death if she ever get married. Atalanta is unbothered by it, though: she has sworn to Artemis to remain free and unmarried forever. That’s the only thing she truly wants.
Yet, when fate brings a horrible monster and a host of heroes chasing it into her woods, the princess discovers that perhaps she will not be allowed to decide her own destiny. Between her father, who orders her to marry for convenience, and the goddess who demands obedience, Atalanta rebels and seeks her own path to follow. And it is right in the forest, where it all began, that she will have to choose who she really wants to be and who she really wants to love.
A fearless huntress. A prophecy. A destiny she refuses to obey.
A bold retelling of the Atalanta myth, where destiny, freedom and first love collide.
